Egypt's Foreign Ministry has organized a field visit to the New Administrative Capital for foreign ambassadors and diplomats who were recently accredited to Egypt.
The New Administrative Capital, located 75 kilometers east of Cairo, is among the president's most ambitious projects, with a cost of about $300 billion.
The government plans on relocating before the end of year 2021.
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi said earlier that the inauguration of the New Administrative Capital and the relocation of the government's headquarters to the new city will mark the "birth of a new state" of Egypt.
Assistant Foreign Minister for Financial and Administrative Affairs Yasser Reda accompanied the diplomats during the trip, which coincided with ongoing preparations for the official inauguration of the new capital, the Ministry said in a press release on Monday.
Addressing the foreign diplomats, Reda said the new capital is expected to bring about a significant shift in government operations.
He noted the ministry's relocation to the new capital will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the reestablishment of the Egyptian foreign ministry after the United Kingdom officially recognized Egypt's independence in 1922.
Reda urged foreign ambassadors to reflect the modern image of Egypt to their countries.
