Newest ‘Avengers: Endgame’ teaser reveals a key plot point a lot of fans saw coming

Spoiler alert: This article contains plot points — and speculation about plot points — for “Avengers: Endgame.”

So if you don’t want any spoilers, you probably want to scram. And if you haven’t seen “Avengers: Infinity War,” you also probably want to scram.

Last chance …

It was painfully obvious.

As soon as Thanos used the six infinity stones to perform “The Snap,” logic dictated that those same stones had the power to undo Thanos’ intergalactic mass-murder. So heading into “Avengers: Endgame,” the Avengers’ plan was likely going to be turning back time to save their fallen superheroes. This plan was so obvious that Marvel released a Spiderman movie with a live version of Peter Parker — despite the fact that we last saw him die in “Avengers: Infinity War” during Thanos’ snap.

In the latest teaser, the surviving Avengers, joined by Captain Marvel, are holding the same discussion that many Marvel fans entertained immediately after “Infinity War.” Why can’t they use the stones to save their friends?

“So let’s get them. Use them to bring everyone back,” Captain Marvel said.

“Just like that?” James Rhodes asked.

“Yeah, just like that,” Captain America said.

Welp, that gets the obvious out of the way — just like this (and other moments in Marvel cannon) confirmed that Captain Marvel will take a major role in the assault against Thanos.

The scene also introduces the drama that might ensue with Captain Marvel joining the crew. She’s an Uber-powerful and headstrong superhero — she’ll have to figure out how to work with the Avengers as a team after working solo for almost three decades. Probably because the same could be said of Thor, he likes her.

There is one less obvious thing they mention in the conversation: Thanos is still using the stones. But in this case, they don’t tell the audience what Thanos used the stones to do. Yup, it’s a cliff-hanger. They weren’t going to tell us everything.
