Newcastle Wine Fair returns this March and here's how to save £5 on tickets

From robust reds to wonderful whites, wine will be taking the spotlight this March in the normally beer-dominated home of Wylam Brewery.

The ale-lovers' paradise in Exhibition Park is to play host to Newcastle Wine Fair for the first time and March 15 will see experts from around the region showcase some of the world's top vino.

And currently there is a £5 saving to be made on tickets.

The Palace of Arts site of the brewery is a new venue for the festival-style event which is run by Newcastle Wine School .

Visitors will find a selection of wines from Australia, Chile, New Zealand, France, Italy, Spain, South Africa and Argentina which means plenty opportunities for tastings - which are included in the ticket price - as they wander the stalls.

Why some of us go red when drinking alcohol

Award-winning independent wine merchants from across the North East will be among those sharing their knowledge about the likes of food-and-wine-matching and exciting new varieties available, and among them will be Majestic Gosforth and Carruthers and Kent.

There will be prize competitions and at the Newcastle Wine School stand there will be an opportunity to taste and identify a mystery wine for a chance to win a free wine course worth £50.

The Newcastle event, which will run from 12.30pm to 4pm, costs £20.

The current offer is of a 25% saving which means that two tickets can be bought for £35 - a saving of £5 on the normal ticket price - but availability is limited.

To take advantage of the offer, add the figure of one in the quantity box here to book two tickets. For more about Newcastle Wine School, which runs a range of food and wine experiences, see here .
