West Ham start their Premier League campaign with a trip north to take on Newcastle at St. James’ Park this afternoon.
David Moyes’ side enjoyed a superb campaign last season, finishing sixth to qualify for the Europa League, and the Hammers will be hoping to carry that momentum into the new season.
The Irons have so far been unable to prize Jesse Lingard away from Manchester United after his magnificent run of form on loan at the London Stadium last season, with Moys urging Said Benrahma to step up and fill the void as he starts his second season in the Premier League, having signed from Brentford last summer.
Newcastle, however, have managed to seal a permanent deal for their own midfield loan star from last season, with Joe Willock joining from Arsenal earlier this week, and the 21-year-old will be looking to pick up where he left off after scoring in seven games on the bounce at the end of the campaign.
