Newcastle vs Manchester United
Premier League 2019/20 season
Venue: London Stadium
Date: Sunday, 6 October, 2019
Kick-off time: 4:30pm BST
Manchester United head to Newcastle desperate to end a wretched run of form on the road.
United made it 10 games without an away win with a goalless draw with AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League – also failing to register a single shot on target.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have mustered just seven goals in nine games since putting four past Chelsea on the opening day of the season and will be desperate to address that slump on Tyneside.
Newcastle were taken apart by Leicester at the King Power Stadium last Sunday – but as Alkmaar and Rochdale have shown in recent weeks – United are not a side to be feared at the moment.
Newcastle vs Man Utd team news
Solskjaer is likely to have to field a patched-up team on Tyneside, and is likely to be without five key players.
Paul Pogba is a major doubt with an ankle injury, while Anthony Martial is still struggling with a thigh problem. Luke Shaw is working his way back to full fitness after a hamstring strain, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka missed the draw at AZ Alkmaar.
Jesse Lingard added to United’s injury concerns when pulling his hamstring after coming on as a substitute at the Cars Jeans Stadium.
It could mean Mason Greenwood getting a first Premier League start of the season, while Axel Tuanzebe could cover at full back if either Shaw or Wan-Bissaka fail to take part.
United are looking to end a 10-game winless run away from home, which dates back to their epic Champions League triumph against Paris Saint-Germain.
