Manchester City will look to trim Liverpool's Premier League title advantage when they travel to Newcastle in today's early kick-off.
Nine points separate the current leaders and last season’s champions, with City bouncing back from that defeat at Anfield with victory over Chelsea last time out.
It was at St James’ Park last season, however, where City suffered a major slip in pursuit of the title. After Sergio Aguero scored after just one minute, goals from Solomon Rondon and Matt Richie turned the game on its head.
With Liverpool in action at home to Brighton this weekend, Pep Guardiola’s side cannot afford another slip-up.
Premier League preview
Newcastle vs Manchester City
Venue: St James' Park
Kick-off time: 12:30pm GMT, today
Prediction
Newcastle 1-2 Man City: City still have issues at the back and will need Gabriel Jesus to step up in Sergio Aguero's absence.
Luckily for them, the Brazilian has proved reliable when called upon and City should have enough to overwhelm Newcastle going forward.

Team news
In Aguero’s absence Peo Guardiola’s produced one of their flattest attacking performances in recent memory against Shakhtar Donetsk.
A 1-1 draw secured qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League, but the lack of Aguero’s cutting edge was felt.
Gabriel Jesus is set to deputise for City’s all-time record scorer against Newcastle with Aguero’s thigh injury expected to keep him out for three weeks, which means he’ll also miss the Manchester derby on December 7.
Guardiola has no other fresh injuries to contend with, but will recognise the need to add freshness to his squad.
Both Rodri and David Silva have complained of cramp in recent weeks, while Raheem Sterling has been quiet since returning from the last international break.
There could be returns for Kyle Walker and John Stones and Benjamin Mendy who all sat out the game against Shakhtar.
Predicted line-up

Man City XI: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Fernandinho, Mendy; De Bruyne, Gundogan, Silva; Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling
