Newcastle vs Liverpool tickets sell out in just four hours - as club issues re-sale warning to fans

Tickets for Newcastle United's final home game of the season against Liverpool sold out just four hours after going on sale.

The Reds are in a fierce Premier League title battle with defending champions Manchester City - Jurgen Klopp's side trail Pep Guardiola's men by a point with three games remaining - that appears set to continue right through until the final weekend of the season.

On Saturday, May 4, at the unusual kick-off time of 7.45pm, Rafa Benitez's Magpies host his former side Liverpool in their last home game of the 2018/19 campaign - with the game having initially shifted to the Sunday for TV, before Sky Sports confirmed it had reverted back to the initial day, only it would now be a late-evening match.

Supporters caught selling Newcastle v Liverpool tickets could face huge fines and a ban

Tickets for the eagerly-anticipated game went on sale at 10am on Thursday, and the club confirmed they had sold out shortly after 2pm.

There will be 3,231 Liverpool fans at St James' Park for the match as Reds supporters closely follow their club's attempts to win a first league title since 1990.

Tickets are being re-sold for in excess of £1,000 due to the huge demand, but Newcastle have warned supporters in the home end they will be in breach of the terms and conditions of their ticket if they allow a Liverpool fan to buy a seat in the home end.

Liverpool supporters have also been warned that they will be ejected from the stadium if they attempt to take a seat in the home end - while any Reds fans without tickets have been urged not to even travel across to Tyneside.
