Newcastle vs Aston Villa team news as Bruce sticks with winning side

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce had the luxury of naming an unchanged team for the clash against Aston Villa.

The Magpies were looking to pick up where they left off against Sheffield United on Sunday with a place in the top 10 now up for grabs.

Bruce had guided his team to a 3-0 win against the Blades and commented on how fit his midfield four of Matt Ritchie, Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey and Allan Saint-Maximin looked.

In fairness, after Joelinton notched his first goal in the Premier League on Sunday he was always favourite to get the nod over Andy Carroll and Yoshinori Muto with the back-up strikers once again named on the bench.

Bruce opted to stick with Javier Manquillo over DeAndre Yedlin for the second match running.

At a time when some Premier League sides have had multiple knocks and injuries, Bruce paid tribute to his back-room staff before the game.
