Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hit the winning goal midway through the second-half.
The Arsenal forward raced onto the impressive Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ dink forward and finished confidently past Martin Dúbravka.
The goal was enough to see Arsenal claim all three points after a scrappy opening half in which they almost concended. Jonjo Shelvey was unlucky to see his fierce half-volley crash into Bernd Leno’s post.
