Arsenal made light work of a trip north to face Newcastle as they moved back into the top half of the Premier League with a comfortable victory at St. James’s Park.
Having played a crucial Europa League semi-final first leg against Villarreal on Thursday - and with the return to come at the Emirates next week - Mikel Arteta made eight changes to his side but performance was hardly compromised, as the Gunners strolled to a win against a Newcastle side whose recent form has surely already done enough to keep them in the top flight.
Mohamed Elneny opened the scoring with his first Premier League goal and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang eventually settled the affair by converting from Gabriel Martinelli’s cross in the second half.
The one down side for the Gunners was the injury suffered by David Luiz in the second-half, with the Brazilian having only just returned from a knee problem.
