Newcastle visit of Circus Extreme will include free tickets for NHS and care workers

When Circus Extreme rolls into town this week, it will have a special treat in store for key workers.

The show - which is packed with high-octane thrills - will be taking up residence on the Nuns Moor section of Newcastle Town Moor from Friday for more than two weeks.

And for its first day preview shows, NHS staff and care wokers are being offered seats for free.

They also will be able to take along a guest each for free for the offer which applies to the Big Top shows at 5pm and 7.45pm on June 11 while availability lasts.

Circus Extreme, whose daredevil performers from around the world perform the likes of aerial feats and motorbike stunts, will be bringing some welcome colour and action to the city following a year of pandemic restrictions.

It was last on the Town Moor in 2019 when it earned a five-star review.

Then the Covid crisis hit just as its parent company was celebrating its 25-year anniversary and its programme of events came to an abrupt halt.

But now the team are celebrating their return, albeit with new social distancing restrictions in place.

The famous Circus Extreme tent - said to be the biggest big top in the UK - is now Covid-secure and will operate at half its usual capacity.

That means it will be catering during its June 11-27 for around 350-400 per show, depending on the size of the family bubbles who book.

But audiences can expect no change to those edge-of-the-seat moments, thanks to the likes of the renowned FMX team who will be performing the likes of mid-air backflips; the Globe of Death stunt - described as 'the most death-defying act ever completed', and high-wire acts.

Among other highlights will be classic clown routines starring 'Henry the world-famous Prince of Clowns'.

Circus Extreme will be performing shows up to three times daily during its run. For ticket details see here.

NHS and care workers who are keen to take advantage of Friday's free ticket offer can call the box office manager on 0203 375 3970 to reserve their seats.

They are asked to take along proof employment when collecting their tickets and the offer will be capped at the first 300 seats due to the restricted capacity.
