Newcastle v Oxford odds, prediction and a decent 15/2 first scorer tip

Newcastle are on a roll.

Five games unbeaten, victory over Chelsea, spirited draws at Wolves and Everton - but can they keep it going in the FA Cup on Saturday?

We asked our Toon expert Mark Douglas for his views on the visit of League One high fliers Oxford United to St James' Park.

Win, lose or draw?

It would be typical of Newcastle to follow up two good results (if not performances) with a Cup defeat but given they'll be taking this seriously, should be backed by near enough a full house and will play a strong side I think they should win. Thepools.com make them a pretty short 4/9 to win .

Who's a good bet for 1st scorer?

Joelinton scored in the last round against League One opposition and will get the nod again with Newcastle short on striker options. He'll be desperate to add to his tally and is 17/4 to score first and 11/8 to score at any time . But I have a feeling youngster Matty Longstaff, who should play again, might make his attacking presence felt. He is 15/2 to open the scoring and 5/2 to score at any time in the match.

Who's on the naughty step? (first card)

Matt Ritchie is back in the swing of things and his aggressive style might lead to his first card since returning from injury. Isaac Hayden is usually the justifiable favourite here.

Who's on pens?

Ritchie will step up if Newcastle get one (which they haven't done yet this season). He's 17/2 to open the scoring and 11/4 to score at any time .

Will your team keep a clean sheet?

They have a rick in them. I can see Oxford scoring at St James' Park. Both Teams To Score is a 4/5 tip but Newcastle to win and both teams to score is a much better 15/8 .
