  • Newcastle United 0-0 Chelsea
  • Manchester City 0-1 Crystal Palace
  • Burnley 3-0 Brentford
  • Watford 0-1 Southampton
  • Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United (5.30pm)

Manchester City 0-1 Crystal Palace: Wilf Zaha finds himself being dragged away from assorted City players by his own team-mates at half-time. Presumably City’s players are accusing him of trying (successfully) to get Aymeric Laporte sent off and goading him accordingly. He’s apoplectic with rage and is lucky not to see a card himself.

Championship: Preston double their lead against Luton, with Emil Jacobsen making it 2-0 with a penalty deep in first half added time. At Ashton Gate, Bristol City have come from behind to lead Barnsley 2-1 at half-time.

Championship: Swansea City are battering Peterborough United at the Liberty Stadium, where Olivier Ntcham has made it 3-0 to the hosts. If anything, the score flatters Peterborough rather than the Swans.

RED CARD! Manchester City are down to 10 men

Premier League: Already a goal down against Crystal Palace, Manchester City are down to 10 men after the dismissal of Aymeric Laporte for a foul that denied Wilf Zaha a goalscoring opportunity. There’s a long VAR consultation ... but he’s off.

Championship: Bristol City equalise against Barnsley at Ashton Gate, where Andreas Weimann has scored his fifth goal of the season to make it all square at one apiece.

GOAL! Liverpool 2-1 Brighton (Enock Mwepu 41)

Premier League: Enock Mwepu curls a splendid effort into the top corner to pull a goal back for Brighton. It’s his first Premier League goal.

Newcastle 0-0 Chelsea: Hakim Ziyech has volleyed over an open goal at St James’ Park, where Newcastle are clinging on for dear life against the league leaders

GOAL! Burnley 3-0 Brentford (Cornet 36)

Premier League: It’s a surprising capitulation by Brentford at Turf Moor, where Maxwel Cornet has just arrowed one into the top corner to put the hosts firmly on track for their first Premier League win of the season.

GOAL! Burnley 2-0 Brentford (Lowton 32)

Premier League: Having provided the assist for the first goal Matt Lowton scores their second.

Liverpool 2-0 Brighton: Brighton almost shoot themselves in the foot as they try to play the ball out from the back. Robert Sanchez gets caught dawdling by Sadio Mane and the ball trickles over the lead. It’s ruled out by VAR as it went in off his arm.

Watford 0-1 Southampton: Alex McCarthy saves well from Ismaila Sarr as Watford go in search of an equaliser.

Championship: Aaron Leya Iseka puts Barnsley a goal to the good against Bristol City at Ashton Gate as Markus Schopp’s look for their first away win of the season.

Newcastle 0-0 Chelsea: Set up by Jorginho, Hakim Ziyech fires into the top corner with Chelsea’s first opportunity against Newcastle. His effort is ruled out for offside.

Liverpool 2-0 Brighton (Mane 24)

Premier League: On for Naby Keita, who was forced off with an injury, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain curls a wonderful, inviting cross into the Brighton penalty area for Sadio Mane to head home.

Championship: Ben Brereton Diaz scores his second of the afternoon to make it Derby County 0-2 Blackburn Rovers at Pride Park.

GOAL! Watford 0-1 Southampton (Adams 20)

Premier League: Che Adams leaves Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster clutching at fresh air as he curls a beauty into the top corner.

Burnley 1-0 Brentford: Maxwel Cornet looked to have put Burnley 2-0 up against Brentford at Turf Moor but his effort has been ruled out after a VAR check. It seems Chris Wood was offside by a toenail.

Championship: It’s Swansea City 2-0 Peterborough at the Liberty Stadium, where Joel Piroe has doubled the home side’s lead. Meanwhile at whatever the Britannia Stadium is called these days, Stoke City are 2-0 up against Cardiff City. Steven Fletcher with their second in the Potteries.

Some goals in the Championship: Derby trail Blackburn by a Ben Brereton Diaz goal after eight minutes. Jacob Brown has given Stoke a one-goal lead over managerless Cardiff City. Matt Godden has headed Coventry City into the lead against Hull City, while Swansea City lead Peterborough United thanks to Jake Bidwell’s early strike.

GOAL! Burnley 1-0 Brentford (Wood 4)

Premier League: The goals are flying in in the top flight. Chris Wood leathers one into the far corner to give Burnley an early lead against Brentford. That’s the big Kiwi’s second goal of the season.

Our 3pm kick-offs are under way ...

Some games were preceded for minute’s silences ahead of Remembrance Sunday, which is on 14 November. Teams who won’t be playing at home again before them have been paying tribute to the fallen today.

Match report: Leicester City 0-2 Arsenal

Premier League: Aaron Ramsdale was outstanding while Arsenal collectively showed uncharacteristic backbone to hold Leicester at bay and move fifth in the table.

Match report: Fulham 3-0 West Brom

Championship: Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a hat-trick and both sides finished with 10 men as Fulham put more distance between themselves and third-placed West Brom.

Jeff Stelling: The much-loved Sky Sports presenter announces that he’ll be leaving the station at the end of the current football season after 30 years with the network. Unbelievable, Jeff!

Liverpool v Brighton: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp makes two changes from the side which trounced Manchester United at Old Trafford, with Sadio Mane and Curtis Jones coming in to face Brighton. James Milner’s hamstring injury forced one change while Diogo Jota was rotated to the bench.

Brighton made three changes to the team which lost 4-1 to Manchester City last weekend, with Yves Bissouma welcomed back after a knee injury and Enock Mwepu and Shane Duffy also returning.

Burnley v Brentford: Skipper Ben Mee is in Burnley’s starting line-up for the clash with Brentford at Turf Moor. There are two changes to the side that drew 2-2 at Southampton last weekend with defender Mee, available again after isolating having testing positive for coronavirus, and midfielder Johann Berg Gudmundsson coming in for Nathan Collins and Jack Cork respectively.

Brentford’s team also featured two changes from their last league outing, a 2-1 loss to Leicester. Goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez deputises for the injured David Raya and forward Marcus Forss replaces Bryan Mbeumo.

Full time: Fulham 3-0 West Brom

Championship: Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a hat-trick as Fulham tightened their grip on second place behind Bournemouth in the long race for promotion.

Full time: Leicester City 0-2 Arsenal

Premier League: Arsenal rise to fifth in the table courtesy of first half goals from Gabriel and Emile Smith-Rowe in a game in which Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was man of the match, making some splendid saves. Arsenal showed what you might describe as uncharacteristic resilience in the face of a spell of intense second half pressure to keep their clean sheet and were worth their win.

Watford v Southampton: Watford make one change against Southampton, with Joao Pedro included for his first Premier League start. Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse returns after serving a three-game ban for his red card against Chelsea. The midfielder’s inclusion was one of four changes made by Ralph Hasenhuttl from the side which drew 2-2 with Burnley. Kyle Walker-Peters, Adam Armstrong and Che Adams are also named in the line-up with Romain Perraud, Ibrahima Diallo and Theo Walcott dropping to the bench and Armando Broja out with an ankle problem.

Newcastle v Chelsea: Graeme Jones has named an unchanged Newcastle line-up, which seems strange when you consider how lucky his team was to escape from Selhurst Park with a point last weekend. It’s difficult to believe that Fabian Schar, Miguel Almiron and Joe Willock wouldn’t bring more to the party than some of the players being picked ahead of them but I guess that’s why Jones gets the interim big bucks.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel makes six changes following his team’s midweek penalty shoot-out win against Southampton in the Carabao Cup. N’Golo Kante is back to make his 200th Premier League appearance, while Jorginho, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Edouard Mendy also return.

Championship: Aleksandar Mitrovic will be taking the match-ball home with him after completing his hat-trick for Fulham in their game against West Brom. It’s 3-0 to the Cottagers as we approach full-time with their opponents down to 10 men following the dismissal of Darnell Furlong.

Watford v Southampton line-ups

Watford: Foster, Ngakia, Troost-Ekong, Cathcart, Masina, Sissoko, Sarr, Joao Pedro, Kucka, Hernandez, King.

Subs: Rose, Louza, Cleverley, Sema, N’Koulou, Gosling, Fletcher, Tufan, Bachmann.

Southampton: McCarthy, Livramento, Bednarek, Salisu, Walker-Peters, Elyounoussi, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Redmond, Adams, Adam Armstrong.

Saturday Clockwatch ...

Leicester City and Arsenal got the ball rolling on this Premier League Saturday with the early kick-off at the King Power Stadium. The visitors lead 2-0 at the break courtesy of goals from Gabriel and Emile Smith-Rowe but the moment of the match so far came from Aaron Ramsdale shortly before the break. The Arsenal goalkeeper pulled off a quite astonishing save to keep out a James Maddison free-kick from just outside the penalty area.

Tottenham host Manchester United in tonight’s 5.30 game, the result of which could have serious repercussions for two under-pressure managers but we’ve several eye-catching 3pm fixtures to come first. Newcastle’s new dawn continues with a home game against table-topppers Chelsea, while Liverpool and Manchester City host Brightton and Crystal Palace respectively. New boys Brentford travel to Burnley, who are one of three sides in the division still looking for their first win of the season.
