Newcastle v Brighton prediction, Toon can win friends - and points

Newcastle won plenty of friends with their approach at Anfield last weekend, but no points.

Can they earn admirers AND vital Premier League points this weekend?

We asked our resident Newcastle United expert Mark Douglas for his verdict.

Recommended Bets

Newcastle to win 6/4

Both Teams To Score 19/20

Win lose or draw?

NUFC to win - just. And that's a very big 6/4 with thepools.com . A 1-0 home win is 11/2 , 2-1 is 9/1 and a 3-2 thriller a huge 40/1 .

Who's a good bet for first scorer?

Joelinton is yet to open his account at home. Today could be the day. He's a very, very appealing 6/1 to do just that with the first goal of the game.

Who's on the naughty step?

Isaac Hayden is never shy of a robust tackle. In a game that will be keenly fought, he could well be the man. Over 3.5 cards is 11/10 - and with Martin Atkinson in charge, four yellows when he took charge of our Toon's opening weekend clash with Arsenal and 11 in his last two outings, we wouldn't dissuade you from that bet.

Who's on pens?

Matt Ritchie is out so it'll likely fall to the number nine Joelinton to take on spot kick duties, which makes that 6/1 mentioned earlier even more appealing.

Will Newcastle keep a clean sheet?

No. Just one clean sheet in five this season - they've been defending quite well but making mistakes. It never goes smoothly at SJP, so expect them to have to battle back from a setback or two. Both Teams To Score is a very big 19/20 .
