Sheffield United take the lead: Leon Clarke scores his second of the game on 76 minutes to put Sheffield United 2-1 up against Hull City. It’s not looking particularly good for the Tigers’ Russian manager Leonid Slutsky, who all but invited the club’s owners to sack him last week if they could find anyone better.
GOAL! Southampton 0-1 Burnley
Premier League: Burnley go ahead at Saint Mary’s courtesy of a fine header from Sam Vokes, who out-jumped Maya Yoshida.

Ten-man Millwall go a goal down: Marvin Sordell has fired Burton Albion ahead against Millwall at the Den, where Lions boss Neil Harris will be fuming at what sounds like a very unjust red card brandished in the face of Jed Wallace.
A brace for Barnsley: In the Championship, Barnsley have given themselves a two-goal cushion against Birmingham City. Zeki Fryers has got their second at Oakwell.
Not looking good for Match of the Day: At the time of writing it looks a stone-wall certainty that Stoke City 2-2 Leicester City will be the lead game on Match of the Day tonight. In four other Premier League matches being played today, we’ve had just two goals. Huddersfield lead West Brom 1-0, while Brighton are one up at Swansea City. West Ham play Liverpool at the London Stadium at 5.30pm (GMT).
Ipswich are routing Preston: Mick McCarthy’s side are now 3-0 up against Preston in the Championship, where Bersant Celina has just scored the Tractor Boys’ third.

More goals in the Championship: Derby County now trail Reading 0-3 at a Pride Park that doesn’t seem to be living up to its name. Elsewhere, Sheffield United have equalised to make it 1-1 between themselves and Hull City at Bramall Lane. Leon Clarke has scored for the Blades again, bagging his fifth of the season. Elsewhere, Millwall’s Jed Wallace has been sent off for serious foul play in his side’s match against Burton Albion at the Den. The word on the street is that Wallace has been very harshly treated by the referee and will hope to get the first red card of his career overturned.
A red card in the Premier League
Huddersfield central defender Chris Schindler has been dismissed after being shown his second yellow card of the game for a late lunge on – I think – Ahmed Hegazy. Huddersfield lead that game 1-0 but are down to 10 men.

Bolton lead Norwich: Norwich City have hit something of a wobble and trail Championship basement-dwellers Bolton Wanderers after conceding a goal scored by Gary Madine at the Macron Stadium.
Sheffield United go behind: The Blades are on course to lose their second match in succession since their supporter, the Guardian reporter and Football Weekly contributor John Ashdown said “I don’t want to jinx them but yes, it’s looking like they could do it”, upon being asked if they might get promoted from the Championship this season. The were beaten by QPR last weekend and currently trail Hull City at Bramall Lane. Kamil Grosicki with the goal there after 29 minutes.

No Wilfried Bony in the Swansea squad
The Cote d’Ivoire striker was rated a 50-50 chance to return from a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined for the month of October, but is not in Swansea’s matchday squad for their match against Brighton. Bony has yet to get off the mark in his second stint as a Swansea player, since signing from Manchester City in the summer.

The FA Cup first round ...
Deep breath and here we go. The very best of luck to all the teams playing in today’s first round ties, particularly any non-league clubs hoping to slay themselves a giant.
And in the Championship ...
It’s a busy afternoon in the Championship, where table-toppers Wolves have the afternoon off after beating Fulham 2-0 last night. Second placed Cardiff City travelled to Bristol City for this afternoon’s early kick-off but look unlikely to close the four-point gap on the leaders, as they trail by the odd goal of three deep in added time.
Premier League fixtures ...
With a Super Sunday line-up worthy of the name keeping their powder dry until tomorrow, this afternoon’s Premier League menu isn’t Michelin star but could throw up some tasty encounters nonetheless. Others may disagree, but Newcastle v Bournemouth and Swansea v Brighton are probably the pick of them in this reporter’s humble opinion, with two promoted sides taking on comparatively established but struggling top flight teams. Stoke entertain Leicester in today’s early kick-off and it’s currently 1-1 at the Brittania after 54 minutes. You can follow the action in that one with Rob Smyth.
