A penalty shout at Huddersfield: Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey brings down Elias Kachunga, but there’s no spot-kick as play had been halted for a very tight offside moments previously.

Not long now: Teams are lining up in tunnels the length and breadth of the UK as our three o’clock kick-offs heave into view. At Manchester City, captain David Silva is being accompanied by two mascots, one a small child and the other an elderly lady, who looks like she’s having an absolute blast.

A quick bit of research reveals her to be Vera Cohen, 102, who has raised over £23,000 Vera Cohen, 102, a season ticket holder for more than 85 years. Vera has raised over £23,000 for The Christie hospital in Manchester since 2001, through her baking. Here’s hoping she has a lovely day. Her sister Olga Halon, a comparatively spritely 97, is supposed to be there too, although I didn’t spot her.

Birmingham City missed a penalty as they drew with West Bromwich Albion at St Andrew’s last night in the opening game of this weekend’s Championship action. League leaders Leeds United travel to Millwall this afternoon, while Middlesbrough – second on goal difference – go to Carrow Road, where they face Norwich City.
