Newcastle United youngster Kell Watts joins Stevenage on loan

Newcastle United have sent promising youngster Kell Watts on a loan deal to Stevenage FC.

The Academy product had an excellent campaign last term and was promoted to the first team in pre-season.

He played for United in their Premier League Asia Trophy match with Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.

But after talks with Ben Dawson and loan manager Shola Ameobi he has been assigned to a season long loan with the League Two outfit.

A statement from Stevenage read: “Watts has signed for Stevenage Football Club on a season long loan...

“The 19 year old arrives from Newcastle United, where he played in all 41 matches at under-23 level for the club last season, scoring six times.

“Primarily a left footed centre-back, Watts has been brought in to help reinforce Dino Maamria’s defensive unit.”
