Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons drops down to League One in bid for first team action

Newcastle United have offloaded Rolando Aarons to League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers.

The winger was hopeful of a fresh start with the Magpies after Steve Bruce was appointed as head coach in July.

Bruce signed Aarons on loan during his time as Sheffield Wednesday boss, but the winger missed out on a Premier League squad number this season.

Aarons' deal with Wycombe is until January 13.

Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth said: "Wycombe Wanderers has been a great platform for many young loan players down the years – something we’re extremely proud of – and I’ve got no doubt that Rolando can prove what a talented player he is during his time with us.

"I’d like to thank Newcastle for trusting us with one of their young stars and now we’re looking forward to seeing him in action, starting with this Saturday’s big game against Lincoln.

"Rolando will complement our style with his pace and ability to run at players and create chances for himself and others."

The loan deal makes it three clubs for Aarons in 12 months after stints with Slovan Liberec and Sheff Wed.
