Reported Nottingham Forest transfer target is interested in a move away from Newcastle United, it has been claimed.
The Magpies winger has been linked with a move to the City Ground, as Sabri Lamouchi fine tunes his squad before the October 5 deadline.
Murphy spent last season on loan with Sheffield Wednesday, and has also been linked with Forest’s arch rivals Derby County.
However, it is north of the border where Murphy is apparently interested in moving to.
According to the Glasgow Times, Murphy is keen to sign for Scottish Premiership giants Rangers on a potential loan deal.
The report goes on to state that Magpies boss Steve Bruce has been impressed with Murphy during pre-season, and will try to convince the player to remain at St James’ Park.
Bournemouth and Wednesday, along with Forest, have all been credited with expressing an interest in taking Murphy on loan for the campaign.
It has also been claimed that if Murphy has not featured much by the time January rolls around, then Bruce may consider letting the player leave on loan.
Murphy, who joined Newcastle for £12m in July 2017, scored nine goals in the Championship last season during his loan stint with the Owls.
