Newcastle United will stick with Dan Langley at Doncaster, with Joelinton bonus

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is set to stick with Dan Langley for the clash against Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium tonight.

The Geordie youngster made a solid debut in the 1-0 defeat at York City last Sunday and with Karl Darlow still self isolating after a positive Covid test, and Mark Gillespie and Freddie Woodman still unavailable as part of the knock on effect, Langley will start and Academy product Max Thompson will deputise on the bench.

The 16-year-old has trained all week with the Magpies and has impressed at Benton.

Bruce also added youngsters Jack Young, Oisin McEntee and Tom Allan to his squad for the clash with the League One side.

The other big positive for Bruce was that Joelinton has recovered from a thigh injury and could make the trip to South Yorkshire.

Joelinton limped off after 18 minutes at the LNER Community Stadium with a muscle problem.

But a scan has revealed no serious damage.

A United statement read: “He will be assessed further before a decision is made on whether he's fit enough to feature on Friday.”
