Newcastle United vs West Ham team news: Saint-Maximin starts as new boy Gordon takes place on bench

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe opted to start with new boy Anthony Gordon on the bench for the Saturday night clash against West Ham.

The Magpies replaced the suspended Bruno Guimaraes with Allan Saint-Maximin with Joelinton dropping back into midfield. Saint-Maximin was back in the starting line-up for the first time since August when he scored in the 1-1 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Howe went with Nick Pope in goal, Kieran Trippier at right-back and Fabian Schar and Sven Botman in the heart of defence while Dan Burn continued to patrol the left-back slot. Joelinton, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock were the midfield trio.

And Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson and Saint-Maximin led the line of attack. On the bench Ryan Fraser was an option while £45million Gordon was a sub.

UNITED: Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Joelinton, Longstaff, Willock; Almiron, Wilson, Saint-Maximin.

Subs: Dubravka, Dummett, Lascelles, Gordon, Ritchie, Lewis, Fraser, Murphy, Anderson.
