Newcastle United vs West Bromwich Albion: Lee Ryder's Premier League prediction

There's probably not a better time to play the Baggies than this.

But whatever way you look at it, there can be no excuses if Newcastle can field a senior side this Saturday.

Despite Newcastle's own problems with Covid-19 and their postponement of the clash with Aston Villa last week, the newly-promoted side will arrive on Tyneside worse for wear.

Slaven Bilic is rumoured to be one defeat away from losing his job and it would have been tough for Newcastle to take on a West Brom outfit playing under a new manager had Hawthorns chiefs taken the decision on the back of last weekend's 5-1 hammering against Crystal Palace.

Lee Ryder's prediction

The Magpies will need a roll call before they face West Brom but will hopefully have enough in the tank to beat the side that have managed just one win since promotion.

Steve Bruce insisted he could only really play one way against the top sides but there should be no issues with an attacking formation against the Baggies.

Despite some struggles of their own at times this season, Newcastle could nudge up to 17 points ahead of games with Leeds and Fulham.

With festive fixtures against Man City and Liverpool the need to get points in the bank is there for all to see.

I'll go for the home win and hope the week off for some of the squad has been a benefit.

Referee
