Newcastle United vs Tottenham team news as Steve Bruce names first XI of new era

Newcastle United named skipper Jamaal Lascelles and top scorer Callum Wilson in the starting line-up to face Tottenham Hotspur today.

Federico Fernandez paid the price for a poor display at Wolves in the previous game to make way for Lascelles while Miguel Almiron sat out after travelling with Paraguay for World Cup duty.

With the clash taking place in front of the new owners and a delegation from Saudi Arabia, the Magpies were looking to get off to a winning start.

Wilson will take on Spurs alongside Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin while Joe Willock also made the starting XI.

Jonjo Shelvey was only named as sub on his return to the team.

Putting aside the arrival of new owners, who will be announced publicly before the kick off, Newcastle are looking to win at the eighth attempt in the top-flight this season.
