A day of Newcastle United celebration turned to shock towards the end of the first half of their first game under new ownership.
The Sunday afternoon clash against Spurs was halted close to the half-time break after a medical emergency in the East Stand of St James' Park.
Tottenham players were preparing to set up for a corner when they noticed a disturbance in the terraces and immediately signalled to referee Andre Marriner that something wasn't right.
The referee quickly suspended the game, taking both sets of players to the dugouts on the opposite side of the ground, while a defibrillator was seen being brought across to the site.
Marriner then checked again with the police as seven minutes of added time were displayed on the fourth official's board.
But moments later he instructed both sets of players to head for the dressing room and the English Premier League clash was suspended, though play resumed after around a 20 minute break with Spurs eventually winning 3-2
According to Newcastle, the fan is now "stable and responsive" in hospital.
The game was the first under new ownership in the north east after Mike Ashley sold the club to a Saudi-led consortium.
