Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe recalled Jamal Lewis and Javier Manquillo for the clash with Norwich City.
With both Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Ritchie suspended the door was opened for the pair to get their opportunity to impress after Lewis and Manquillo have had to wait for a chance
Ciaran Clark returned to replace Emil Krafth after a poor show in the 2-0 defeat at Arsenal.
Howe had stated that players would get their fair share of opportunities to impress behind the scene at training.
Interestingly, there was no place for Federico Fernandez in the starting line-up.
Previously Graeme Jones had said he would not insult Fernandez by naming him on the bench.
But the former Argentina international showed willingness by joining the likes of players who have lost their place under Howe on the sidelines such as Sean Longstaff and Isaac Hayden.
Tonight's team
UNITED: Dubravka; Manquillo, Schar, Clark, Lewis; Shelvey, Willock; Fraser, Joelinton, Saint-Maximin; Wilson.
Subs: Darlow, Hayden, Hendrick, Krafth, Fernandez, Murphy, Almiron, Gayle, S Longstaff.
