Newcastle United vs Man City team news: Five changes and an interesting bench

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe made five changes to his side for the clash against Man City.

Howe had made it clear that he would rotate his squad and he has been as good as his word at St James' Park for the arrival of Pep Guardiola's team.

Ciaran Clark returned to the fray while Joe Willock started and Callum Wilson was back.

Matt Ritchie replaced injured Jamal Lewis while Miguel Almiron was back.

Allan Saint-Maximin was only on the bench due to a knock picked up at Liverpool.

A noteworthy pair of additions to the bench were United's young midfielder Joe White and forward Elliot Anderson.

There was no sign of Javier Manquillo after the Spanish defender played on Merseyside this week while Jonjo Shelvey also missed out.

For Man City Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus came in for Phil Foden and Jack Grealish.

UNITED: Dubravka, Murphy, Lascelles, Clark, Ritchie, Hayden, Willock, Joelinton, Almiron, Fraser, Wilson

Subs: Darlow, Schar, Krafth, Hendrick, Longstaff, Anderson, White, Saint-Maximin, Gayle

CITY: Ederson, Cancelo, Dias, Laporte, Zinchenko, De Bruyne, Rodri, Silva, Mahrez, Sterling, Jesus
