Newcastle United vs Leicester team news: Eddie Howe goes full strength for cup clash

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe restored his starting line-up to full strength for the home clash against Leicester City.

Bidding for a place in the semi-finals for the first time since 1976, Howe did not repeat his cup gamble at Sheff Wed and brought back his big stars for this encounter. Howe even went as far as apologising for the defeat at Hillsborough in his programme notes, but insisted they tried to pick a team to progress on FA Cup third round day.

Back came England stopper Nick Pope with Kieran Trippier back in the starting line-up. Fabian Schar and Sven Botman were the men in the heart of defence and reliable Dan Burn was named at left-back. In midfield Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock patrolled the centre of the park.

And Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson and Joelinton were the front three. Alexander Isak and Allan Saint-Maximin had to be content with places on the bench. With Martin Dubravka cup-tied Karl Darlow was the reserve team stopper.
