Newcastle United vs Everton team news: Targett, Almiron and Wilson return and three rested

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe started with Matt Targett at Goodison Park as he shuffled the pack once again.

Targett had been put through a rigorous work out after the Spurs game on Sunday hinting he was about to replace Dan Burn, but he was not the only change. Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak were also rested for the encounter on Merseyside.

That saw Miguel Almiron return and Callum Wilson, who scored twice at this ground in 2021 in a 2-0 win under Steve Bruce. Howe has made it clear that all of his squad have roles to play in the run-in but with Isak and Murphy running hot they may be disappointed to miss out against Everton from the start.
