Newcastle United vs Chelsea: Lee Ryder's Premier League prediction

The games are coming thick and fast for Newcastle again, but there is at least light at the end of the tunnel in terms of injuries.

Jonjo Shelvey - who loves a game against London opposition - is back, while Allan Saint-Maximin and Jamaal Lascelles could all feature against the Blues.

With Joelinton and Miguel Almiron now benefiting from the confidence of getting back on the scoresheet there, United are at least in with a shout of a result in front of a full house.

Lee Ryder's prediction

The Blues are sitting in fourth place in the Premier League but have stuttered a couple of times this season.

They twice slipped up at home against Bournemouth and Southampton and picked up just a point at Brighton.

But they do come into this game on the back of a 3-0 win against Burnley and are favourites ahead of the trip to Tyneside.

There are still cracks to be exposed in this Chelsea side.

Bruce has warned his side about defensive errors and even went as far as describing their woe as "schoolboy defending".

But they'll have their work cut out at St James' Park.

For all that with players returning, I think Newcastle are in with a shout of a big result.

Referee

Chris Kavanagh

A first return to St James' Park for referee Kavanagh since the 2-2 draw with Manchester City in November. He is yet to send a player off this season.

Charity bet

Newcastle to win at a generous 5/1 from William Hill.
