Steve Bruce will have some decisions to make as he prepares to name his first official starting XI as Newcastle United manager.
Will he stick with three at the back? Will new boys Jetro Willlems and Allan Saint-Maximin start, despite such limited time at the club?
Arsenal will provide a stern opening test for the Magpies, but Bruce is boosted by the unexpected return to fitness of Matt Ritchie for the season opener at St James' Park.
Joelinton is also expected to make his debut in the number nine shirt.
But Bruce will not be able to call upon DeAndre Yedlin for the game. The USA right-back is still a few weeks away from fitness, while new signing Emil Krafth only trained for the first time on Friday afternoon. It means Javier Manquillo is expected to get an opportunity to carry his pre-season form into the new season at right-back.
Andy Carroll is also still recovering from surgery on an injury pre-dating his return to Newcastle.
