Newcastle United v Oxford: Confirmed live stream status as betting firms clarify FA Cup coverage

The broadcast status of Newcastle’s FA Cup fourth round clash with Oxford has been clarified, with NO live streams provided by betting companies for this round of games.

Bet365 have confirmed that their stream will be “audio only”, despite the Squawka website listing the match as one that the betting company would be providing a live stream for.

There was controversy following the third round of the Cup when a number of betting companies provided livestreams of the 3pm games for customers who deposited in their online account. The FA made overtures to the companies, who had acquired the rights through a third company, and it appears as if that has led to the matches being taken off the websites.

There was confusion over whether the replay of the third round would be on Bet365, who initially listed the match as one that would be screened only for it not to be shown live.

The upshot of all of this is that – although the BBC is featuring the match on their Final Score programme as one of their featured “Extended Highlights” games. This means they will be showing goals and key moments throughout the programme, which starts at 2.30pm.

The Chronicle will also be liveblogging the game from St James’ Park for fans who cannot make the match, and there will be a full Match of the Day tonight starting at 10.30pm.
