Newcastle United unchanged as they look to end season with flourish - team news

Newcastle United named an unchanged line-up for the clash against rock bottom Sheffield United.

It meant that the Magpies made Andy Carroll wait for a potential cameo appearance with no news on whether the Geordie striker will get a renewed contract.

Steve Bruce stated before the game that he would not go down the route of sentiment meaning that Elliot Anderson was also left out of the squad too, with the midfielder suffering a hip knock.

Bruce's side were bidding to win in front of supporters for the first time since March 2020.

And after slipping to fourth bottom in the table after last night's win for Brighton & Hove Albion, United were in dire need of a late season lift.

United starting XI: Dubravka, Murphy, Krafth, Fernandez, Dummett, Ritchie, Shelvey, Willock, Almiron, Saint-Maximin, Joelinton

Subs: Gillespie, Clark, M Longstaff, Caroll, Gayle, Lewis, Hendrick, Manquillo, S Longstaff
