Newcastle United turn to offensive additions and are monitoring Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud

Newcastle United will switch their attention to the offensive end of the field having landed a loan deal for Danny Rose.

The England international is on Tyneside to complete the move but must get through a medical and the other usual formalities.

Steve Bruce has been carefully monitoring developments surrounding want-away Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

The French international is still available on loan for a fee of around £3million at the Stamford Bridge club.

Bruce tried to sign Giroud at the start of the month but conceded defeat after Inter Milan looked to have tied down a two-year deal for the ex-Arsenal man.

But the deal fell through and Giroud’s agent has been touting his client again.

Lazio are the latest side to be credited with interest in Giroud but he has other options.

Were Bruce and United find a way of pulling the Giroud deal off it would cap a positive transfer window having already signed Nabil Bentaleb and Valentino Lazaro.
