Newcastle United transfer update as Steve Bruce says Matt Ritchie's future is 'up in the air'

Steve Bruce has wished DeAndre Yedlin the best of luck for the future after agreeing to sell him to Galatasaray - but says that Matt Ritchie's future is "up in the air" on deadline day.

United will offload Yedlin to the Turkish club providing he passes a medical and Bruce hopes to bring in new faces later today.

Yedlin is in Istanbul after arriving last night to finalise a deal to the 22-times Turkish champions.

Bruce said: "Quite simply we had three right-backs at the club, DeAndre is suited to playing wing-back and it's quite clear we are trying to play with a back four.

"He's a great lad and I wish him the best of luck. We are trying to move one out to bring some in."

When asked on incoming business, Bruce added: "We hope that we can do one or two things.

"Like everybody else it has been a difficult market."

Ritchie was a Bournemouth target last week and it remains to be seen whether it can be resurrected today.

Bruce said: "It's up in the air. He's been a good servant.

"He's found himself frustrated after not being in the team."
