Newcastle United transfer rumours: Tyrone Mings linked & agent responds to Lorenzo Insigne reports

Here's your Newcastle United transfer rumours round-up for Friday November 12.

Loftus-Cheek and van de Beek 'considered'

Website Caught Offside reported they were told by a source involved in recruitment at Newcastle United that no targets have been agreed upon yet, but two names are being discussed.

The website wrote: "A close source, involved in recruitment plans, has revealed to us that the Magpies are hoping to sign two centre-backs, as well as a new midfielder.

"The club has several targets on its wish-list but no final targets have yet to be agreed upon.

"Senior members at the club would like to pursue Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek as they consider him an achievable, yet high profile player, while others inside the club have also suggested Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek."

Spanish newspaper says Toon 'eyeing' Mings

Spanish sports newspaper Marca (h/t footballfancast.com) has claimed that Newcastle United are targeting Aston Villa centre-back Tyrone Mings.

The 28-year-old was part of the Bournemouth set-up under new Newcastle boss Eddie Howe before he moved to Villa, where he has flourished.

While he would undoubtedly be a solid addition to the Newcastle back line, it also seems an unlikely move for the England international, especially as new boss Steven Gerrard has just arrived at Villa Park.

However, Villa have had a run of poor form and some have pointed the finger of blame in Mings' direction. It may be that Gerard feels the same way.

Agent rubbishes MSL link for 'Toon target'

The agent for Napoli's Lorenzo Insigne has dismissed rumours that the winger may head to the MLS.

According to HITC, Newcastle are 'keen on' Insigne, though no doubt lots of other clubs who are far higher up the pecking order will be too, if he's willing to move.

His agent, Vincenzo Pisacane, told Il Roma: “He’s out of contract in June 2022. Napoli are offering a new contract with a 50% pay decrease. And Lorenzo was surprised by this proposal.

"We’re in talks and we’ll see. As for rumours to MLS, these are completely fake”.
