Newcastle United transfer rumours: Newcastle target unsettled Manchester United star and Burnley defender

Here are the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Sunday, October 10:

Tarkowski top target for the Toon

The Telegraph reported that Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski is likely to be Newcastle's primary target in the run-up to the January transfer window.

The Telegraph reports that Tarkowski’s name ‘featured heavily’ in discussions between Staveley and her football advisors.

The player has yet to sign a new contract with his club, meaning he will be able to leave for free in the summer, and Burnley may be keen to pick up a fee now.

However, our sister title LancsLive have revealed their is no "gentleman's agreement" allowing Tarkowski to leave Turf Moor.

Unsettled Lingard could be snapped up

The same newspaper, the Telegraph, reported that Newcastle are also interested in signing Manchester United and England midfielder Jesse Lingard.

The 28-year-old wants to play for his country at the 2022 World Cup which is why he has publicly said he wants ‘regular football’.

He had a good season on loan at West Ham last year, but this season he has only played 45 minutes in the Premier League for Manchester United, coming off the bench three times.
