Newcastle United transfer rumours: Harry Winks update, Mouctar Diakhaby interest, exit confirmed

With just a few of days left of the summer transfer window, Steve Bruce and Newcastle United have a limited amount of time to finalise their squad until January, at least.

Longstaff seals loan move away

Newcastle prodigy Matty Longstaff has signed a new one-year contract at St James' Park before being loaned out to Scottish premiership side Aberdeen for the remainder of the season.

Longstaff, who announced his first appearance for the first team with a fantastic long-range winner against Manchester United in October 2019, spent large parts of last season on the sidelines due to issues with a knee injury.

Newcastle keeping an eye on Winks

With one midfielder heading out the door at St James' Park, another one could be set to arrive according to the Daily Mail.

Winks, who has been capped ten times by England, is reportedly a target for Bruce is targeting players with sufficient Premier League experience in a bid to help the Magpies improve on last season's below-par season.

Winks doesn't appear to be in the plans of new Spurs' Nuno Espirito Santo, evident by his two starts this season that have come in the Europa Conference League.

Newcastle to battle Leicester for French midfielder

Newcastle and Leicester will reportedly battle it out for the signing of the French defender Mouctar Diakhaby from Valencia.

The report from FootMercato also states that the defender is actively ‘looking for a new experience far from Spain’, which could play into the hands of both Premier League clubs in the hunt for his signature.

The report also reveals that other clubs such as Fenerbahçe are reportedly keen on a deal for the defender, so, with just a few days left of this transfer window, Newcastle will have to act fast if they want to make the defender their latest signing.
