Newcastle United transfer rumours as reported Magpies target linked with move to Qatar

In the midst of animosity and talk of a takeover, few Newcastle United supporters are discussing transfers.

However, transfer news can often prove difficult to escape and although there has been no reported development in rumours surrounding Reading midfielder John Swift, there is still transfer news for fans to digest.

Here is the latest transfer news from the last 24 hours.

Newcastle-linked playmaker set for move to Qatar

Colombian playmaker James Rodriguez is in talks with a club in Qatar, according to The Athletic.

The 30-year-old's days at Everton have seemed numbered for some time and he was linked with a move to Newcastle over the summer, but a deal never materialised.

It now appears the former Real Madrid man will leave the country altogether and start fresh in the Middle East if talks go smoothly.

Odds slashed on Eddie Howe becoming Newcastle boss

The odds on Eddie Howe replacing Steve Bruce as Newcastle United manager have been slashed to 6/4.

This places him as the favourite to take on the role currently occupied by Bruce, who has been the subject of intense animosity from his own supporters.

Howe has been out of work since leaving Bournemouth, a club he completely transformed and took to the Premier League, growing his reputation considerably whilst doing so.
