Newcastle United transfer rumours as Magpies linked with Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries

A look at the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Tuesday, May 9.

Magpies keen on Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries

Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries this summer, according to Football Insider. The Dutch defender, who impressed at the World Cup in Qatar earlier this season, is said to be a target for the Magpies if Ivan Fresneda joins another side.

The Toon are said to still be interested in signing the young Spaniard, but Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal are reportedly in pole position. Eddie Howe's side know they need to bolster their squad if they want to compete on multiple fronts next season.

Dumfries has plenty of experience at 27-years-old and European experience with PSV and Inter. The Dutch right-back won the Coppa Italia in 2021-22.

Newcastle United want to 'immediately open negotiations' with Raphinha

Spanish media outlet Sport says Newcastle United have made an approach to sign Barcelona’s Raphinha. The story is on the front page of the newspaper claiming the 26-year-old could be sold in order to free up funds at the Nou Camp.

The former Leeds United winger only sealed his dream move to the La Liga side last summer, but Eddie Howe's side have been repeatedly linked with a move for the Brazilian international.

The winger wasn't a prime candidate to sell in the upcoming window, but Xavi's side are now said to be open to offers in the region of €80million, as per the report.

It's claimed Eddie Howe's side are in the running to sign Raphinha, with Chelsea also keen having had a bid accepted last summer.
