Newcastle United transfer rumours: Arsenal defender targeted as Dele Alli told get to Newcastle

Here are the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Wednesday, 15 December 2021.

Interest in on-loan Arsenal man

Newcastle United are interested in signing on loan Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, according to BILD.

Mavropanos is currently spending the season on loan at Stuttgart, who have an option to buy the Greek centre back for just €3 million.

The report states that Stuttgart will take up the option to buy and immediately look to move him on for big profit; with a fee of £21 million quoted.

The Magpies will reportedly face competition from West Ham United and Borussia Dortmund for his signature, though.

Newcastle target to stay

Reported Newcastle United target Darwin Nunez is set to stay at Benfica beyond the January transfer window, according to Jornal de Noticias.

The report states that in order to secure his services in the winter market, clubs must trigger his release clause of €150 million.

Newcastle are said to be one of the clubs who enquired for Nunez in October, however his form this season means Benfica want to keep him until the summer.

He has netted 14 goals in the league so far this season, and also fired in a brace during the 3-0 win over Barcelona in the Champions League, which helped them qualify for the last-16.

Bent backs Alli deal

Darren Bent believes that Newcastle United would be the perfect destination for Dele Alli, who could leave Tottenham Hotspur next month.

According to the Athletic, Daniel Levy is ready to sanction a loan move for Alli in January, as he struggles to get regular game time under Antonio Conte.

And speaking to talkSPORT, via quotes from HITC, Bent thinks that a move to Newcastle would be best for all parties, as Alli looks to rediscover his best form.

He said: “I think he needs to go anywhere where he’s going to play football. I think Newcastle – they need players.

There’s a player still in there,” Bent adds.

“He’s fallen by the wayside, certainly from those first two seasons where he won back-to-back Young Player of the Year (awards).

“He was absolutely sensational.

“He’s lost his way a little bit. But I think if he went to Newcastle, focused on football and got himself back playing again, that’s the most important thing. I think that would work well for all parties.

“He is a good player. Get him to Newcastle.”
