Newcastle United transfer news: Magpies monitoring Mason Mount, Jamaal Lascelles set for exit door

Here are your Newcastle United transfer rumours for Wednesday, February 15.

Newcastle monitoring Mason Mount contract talks

Newcastle are among a number of clubs monitoring Mason Mount's contractual situation, with the England international yet to reach an agreement over an extension with Chelsea.

Both sides remain keen on finding a solution, although 90 Min has revealed that Newcastle are watching Mount closely along with fellow Premier League rivals Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Talks have reportedly proven challenging although Mount is believed to want to stay at Stamford Bridge, as lines of communication remain open between both the player and Chelsea.

The Chelsea academy graduate joined the club at youth level in 2005 and has racked up 189 appearances for the Blues - scoring 33 goals and providing 37 assists.

Mount has been less prolific during Chelsea's difficult campaign, and has recorded just three goals and six assists in 28 games across all competitions this term.

Newcastle to 'listen to offer' for Jamaal Lascelles

Newcastle will listen to offer for long-serving defender and club captain Jamaal Lascelles in the summer, with the 29-year-old expected to end his nine-year stay at St James' Park at the end of the season.

According to The Northern Echo, fellow Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest have held a long-term interest in Lascelles.

Lascelles, who joined Newcastle from Forest in 2014, has fallen behind Fabian Schar, Sven Botman and Dan Burn in the pecking order since Eddie Howe's arrival.

He has now entered the final 18 months of his contract, and has been reduced to just one league start and four appearances in total in the Premier League this season.

The report adds that although Lascelles is valued as an important figure in the dressing room, Newcastle's expected purchase of another central defender in the summer means that he is poised for the exit door.
