Newcastle United train in Nanjing as Manchester City's pre-season plans are hit by major disruption

Newcastle United's potential Premier League Asia Trophy opponents Manchester City have suffered major disruption to their pre-season tour in China.

United trained this morning at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre ahead of their first game with Wolverhampton Wanderers, but City have had to get on with preparations at home while they wait for a rearranged flight.

The Magpies could face Pep Guardiola's side on Saturday night.

City were scheduled to arrive in Shanghai on Monday to get ready for their game with West Ham in Shanghai.

But after hoping to depart the UK on Saturday, their flight was cancelled for a second time on Sunday after Thomas Cook failed to book a slot with air traffic controllers.

A Man City statement read "Due to an unforeseen administrative issue beyond the club’s control, which is being resolved, regrettably, we will embark on our pre-season tour a little later than intended."

City have had to postpone their Press conference in Shanghai today.

Wolves boss Nuno Espírito Santo will face the media at a plush hotel in Shanghai later today to speak about Wolves' opening clash with Newcastle on Wednesday.
