Newcastle United told Michael Emenalo appointment would overcome 'big problem'

Paddy Kenny believes appointing Michael Emenalo would see the Magpies overcome a "big problem" in the transfer marker.

The former Chelsea and Monaco technical director is one of the names linked with a move to Tyneside and is reportedly a huge fan of Newcastle's new boss, Eddie Howe.

Reports earlier this week, suggest that Premier League clubs could refuse to sell players to the Magpies in protest against the Saudi led takeover at the club.

Any such embargo would drastically reduce the pool of players available to Newcastle United and cause a major headache for the recruitment team.

However, the former Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper believes appointing Emenalo would ease those problems.

Speaking to Football Insider, Kenny said: “I think this is the right sort of appointment, it could be massive.

“He’s got loads of experience at Monaco and Chelsea and he’ll be able to take them in the right direction.

“They’ve got all this money but they need some quality now. The club has been stalling for years under Mike Ashley.

“So to bring someone like this in is a good move. He knows the European market and that will probably be massive for Newcastle.

“I think they might have to go out there to sign players because I don’t think many in the Premier League will sell to them.

“That could be a big problem for them if they don’t get someone in who can show them what to do in the European market.”
