Newcastle United to receive allocation for fans for Doncaster away trip

Newcastle United supporters will be allowed to travel to Doncaster Rovers for their pre-season friendly later this month - according to the South Yorkshire club.

The Magpies were told that no away fans would be admitted for the pre-season clash against York City on July 18 as the home club revealed a 2,000 supporter limit.

However, Rovers will make a section available to Geordie fans and details on how to get hold of tickets is expected to be released soon.

Rovers are admitting home fans for £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for juniors.

A Rovers statement read: "This game will be all ticket and all areas will be socially distanced allocated seating.

"Tickets will be sold with social distancing between all groups so not all seats will be available and if purchasing online, you must only buy in full blocks.

"Newcastle United will sell tickets for away supporters."

The game kicks off at 7pm on July 23 at the Keepmoat Stadium.

United's last first-team visit to Doncaster was back in 2016 in a pre-season friendly which ended in a 2-2 draw.

That night Newcastle fought back from 2-0 down against Donny with goals from Isaac Hayden and Ayoze Perez ahead of the club's stint in the Sky Bet Championship.
