Newcastle United team revealed as COVID forces changes

Steve Bruce named a squad that looked capable of getting a victory against West Bromwich Albion today.

The notable absentees from the team sheet were Jamaal Lascelles, Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schar, Allan Saint-Maximin and Federico Fernandez as United lined up to take on the Baggies at St James' Park.

But Bruce was able to rely on top scorer Callum Wilson in attack who combined with Joelinton up front.

Miguel Almiron was also involved from the start for the first time since September while Emil Krafth returned to the side along with Isaac Hayden.

Bruce though had to rely on rookie keeper Dan Langley on the bench with Mark Gillespie missing with Dwight Gayle also back in the fray.

The ex-Crystal Palace man is expected to "play some part" in the encounter with Slaven Bilic's side.

NUFC XI : Darlow, Krafth, Clark, Hayden, Lewis, Ritchie, S Longstaff, Shelvey (c), Almiron, Joelinton, Wilson

Subs : Langley, M Longstaff, Carroll, Gayle, Hendrick, Yedlin, Murphy
