Newcastle United team news: Yedlin axed for penalty blunder as Diame misses out again

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez axed DeAndre Yedlin for his penalty blunder against Crystal Palace.

The US international was handed a place on the bench after diving in on Wilfried Zaha to concede a late spot-kick against Crystal Palace last weekend.

It meant that Javier Manquillo stepped in at right-back while Paul Dummett replaced Florian Lejeune.

Another notable addition to the bench was Mo Diame with the former Senegal midfielder down to just four matches to win two more starts to trigger his contract extension.

Failure to start two of the remaining games means he can walk away for free this summer with the ex-Hull man unhappy at the prospect of just a one year deal.

Benitez named Jonjo Shelvey on the bench again with the England international still waiting for his first Premier League start since November.

Before the game Benitez had said: “I hope I am wrong but I have always said that Fulham might be our most important game.

“We can only focus on the next game.”

UNITED : Dubravka, Manquillo, Lascelles, Schar, Dummett, Ritchie, Ki, Hayden, Almiron, Perez, Rondon.

Subs: Darlow, Fernandez, Yedlin, Shelvey, Diame, Atsu, Muto.

LCFC : Schmeichel, Pereira, Morgan, Maguire, Chilwell, Tielemans, Ndidi, Gray, Maddison, Barnes, Vardy.
