Newcastle United team news vs Chelsea as Eddie Howe makes four changes due to illness

Newcastle United made four changes to their starting line-up to face crisis club Chelsea today. The Magpies handed Javier Manquillo, Jamaal Lascelles, Sean Longstaff and Miguel Almiron starts.

Jonjo Shelvey, Emil Krafth, Ryan Fraser and Joe Willock were all missing with Shelvey and Willock both described as "ill" by the club. Eddie Howe had hinted at changes after the 2-1 win at Southampton given Newcastle's schedule of three games in seven days.

But there was a place for Allan Saint-Maximin on the bench after the winger recovered from an illness. Joelinton was still missing due to a groin strain while there was a place for Matt Ritchie on the bench.
