Newcastle United team news vs Athletic Bilbao as Eddie Howe names strong attack

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe rotated his team as expected for the second game in as many days at St James' Park, this time against Athletic Bilbao.

The former AFC Bournemouth chief went with Martin Dubravka in goal with a back four of Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles, Sven Botman and Paul Dummett at the back.

A midfield trio of Bruno Guimaraes, Joe Willock and Joelinton were named by Howe while Matt Ritchie, Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson led the line of attack.

Howe had played stars like Kieran Trippier, Nick Pope and Matt Targett last night against Atalanta but opted for a different line-up this time around.

Although, he stuck with the same subs bench and his replacements had a youthful feel about them with the likes of Jay Turner-Cooke, Dylan Stephenson and Lucas De Boller all involved.

UNITED: Dubravka, Krafth, Lascelles, Botman, Dummett, Bruno, Willock, Joelinton, Ritchie, Saint-Maximin, Wilson

Subs: Gillespie, A Murphy, Bondswell, M Longstaff, De Bolle, L Miley, Turner-Cooke, Munoz, Stephenson
