Newcastle United team news: Two return as Allan Saint-Maximin starts again

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce made two changes to the team that beat AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

The Magpies restored Miguel Almiron to the starting XI while Isaac Hayden also returned.

Nabil Bentaleb dropped to the bench with Sean Longstaff out with a hamstring injury.

Joelinton shook off a calf injury with Jamaal Lascelles also passed fit after a whack on the ankle against the relegation haunted Cherries.

Bruce resisted the temptation to start Andy Carroll against his old club but has the big striker as an excellent option from the bench.

Dwight Gayle started the game and was looking to add to his two goals against Aston Villa and Bournemouth.

Javier Manquillo got the nod over Danny Rose while Swedish international Emil Krafth started his second game in a row.

NUFC team : Dubravka, Krafth, Lascelles, Fernandez, Manquillo, Shelvey, Hayden, Saint-Maximin, Almiron, Joelinton, Gayle.

Subs: Darlow, Schar, Carroll, Ritchie, Yedlin, Lazaro, Rose, Bentaleb, M Longstaff.
