Newcastle United team news: Two debuts as Steve Bruce makes ten changes

Steve Bruce rang the changes for Newcastle United's home clash with Blackburn Rovers in the League Cup second round.

Bruce handed Mark Gillespie a debut in goal with Javier Manquilo the only survivor in the United line-up from the Saturday night trip to West Ham.

Ciaran Clark returned to the side for the first time since last season while Emil Krafth was back.

Dan Barlaser and Sean Longstaff were given their chance in midfield while Matt Ritchie, Ryan Fraser and Miguel Almiron were the providers for Bruce.

Joelinton was also offered a recall in the final third for the Magpies.

Bruce's insurance policy on the bench involved Jacob Murphy, transfer listed Christian Atsu and Allan Saint-Maximin.

UNITED : Gillespie, Manquillo, Krafth, Clark, Yedlin, Barlaser, S Longstaff, Fraser, Almiron, Ritchie, Joelinton.

Subs : Darlow, Lascelles, Saint-Maximin, Hayden, Hendrick, Murphy, Atsu.
